Oh my GOD! This thing was such a pain in the ass to draw! I hate drawing perspective, I really do. But this one HAD to be done.

Anyway, this is the Great Hall of Thornewood Castle with few new doors, new staircase, and new furniture. A LOT of time and money was put into all the construction and such and trying to keep in the style of the original plans, but it was well worth it.
This room is the first room the guests would be walking into, so we all felt it needed more impact, thus the new Grand Staircase at the center of two huge round columns supporting the massive house. The fireplace was a feature already in the room, but was rebuilt to be more fancy looking. The doors are more Gothic looking, having arches carved into them and have added windows over them to let light into each room. Above the massive staircase, two portraits hang: One of Claudia and one of our Uncle, them being the house's owners. And yes, we have a giant tv hanging over the fireplace. The Great Hall functions as our main living room, so we needed somewhere for the kids to hang out. (And not bother Uncle in his study :P )
All in all, I like how this came out. Only thing is, it looks slightly crooked to me... But that's what ya get from a person who draws with very shaky hands.

I like the detail in this. I also like the relatively classic architecture mixed with modern furniture and accessories.

I go for a more contemporary approach to how we decorated the house: It's underlying Victorian Gothic but still has that more modern home look. I especially love our "L" sofas. They're very comfy!

Sometimes classic and modern amenities work very well together! :D

Yes they do. It also appeals to our guests very well.

Its a great combo, well in some situations. In others it should be one or the other.

Yea. Mostly, since Uncle travels a lot, the house is full of things he's collected and brought back, like old trunks and masks and such that he found cool. So the Castle as a whole is a massive eclectic museum almost.

Yup :) He brings back stuff for his kids a lot of the time, but mostly collects stuff for himself and the house haha My favorite thing was this old ivory chessboard he has in the "Gentleman's Parlor" next to the Great Hall. (That's the room that's before the couch on the wall without the fireplace.)
